Why I started Dogfather's .

It started with my one big furry dog here in Hong Kong. His name is Doctor. He is a Chow. Regal and aloof.

For years he was fed on regular dry dog food, very ordinary and not very good for his health.  Over the years, he began to develop problems with his skin. It actually started with his eyes, very smelly and crusty around the corners of his eyes. His ears began to get smelly as well. The last straw was when he started getting diarrhea once a month.

Veterinary fees began to mount up. I had to do something more direct. I had to take charge of my dog's life. The vet can do only so much. I can't ask the vet to come live with us to look after my pet.

The next best thing ? I took a few courses at the Animal Care College in U.K. to learn all about the care for dogs, from birth to beyond. Later, after I received my diploma in Advanced Canine Care, and I was ready to help my furry friend. Nutrition was the major subject of my research. As a result, I have completely changed the way I feed my Chow. He now gets all the top vitamins and minerals along with home cooked food.

There is no better satisfaction than to know that you have given the very best to your pet. 

His fur is now shiny. He seems to be more alert. There is something still missing……

I still needed to take him to the groomer. Although the groomer offered to pick him up from my place but my pet hates to travel in a stranger's car. Plus there were a lot of other dogs at the groomer's. My dog didn't get along well with other dogs. Too much time was wasted going to and from the groomer's. Not to mention the stress of not having me there with him to give moral support to him in a strange place with strange people touching and pulling on him. There had to be a better way.

So I went to grooming school. Earned a diploma and a certification. Now I am ready to give my pet the best care in grooming that he can ever experience. No stress of waiting in a strange place.  He gets me all the time, every time, right here at the comfort of our own home. Very consistent, very routine, very predictable, just what a doggie wants and needs.

When I take Doctor out for walks, cars would slow down to look at him, passers by stop to gaze at him, many people make complimentary comments about the way he looks. This gives me great pride and joy knowing that I was the one that groomed him for his beauty.

With my new knowledge, I wanted to do more for all those doggies out here in Hong Kong that may have the same experience of my four-legged friend. So I first set out by grooming all my friends' pets. They liked what I did and encouraged me go out and do more for the rest of the dogs in Hong Kong. 

I really enjoy my work with all the different breeds of doggies here in Hong Kong, especially when I see them jump for joy and parade around for their owners to see. It gives me great satisfaction to see how pleased the owners are with their pet's new look.
